Activists, scholars protest idea of Shockoe Bottom ballpark

A formidable coalition of activists and historical scholars drew a line at Richmond City Hall today over an expected proposal by Mayor Dwight C. Jones to build a minor-league baseball stadium in Shockoe Bottom in what one historian called “the heart of the interstate slave trade” in the antebellum South. Link
